Bucephalus is described as having a black coat with a large white star on his brow and may have had one blue eye. At twelve years old in the city of Dion, Alexander made a wager with his father Phillip II that he could tame the wild horse that would throw anyone who attempted to ride him, even the most experienced riders. Alexander noticed that Bucephalus was afraid of his shadow and turned him toward the sun, tamed him and then and rode through the field we were standing in.
