Gjirokaster, nick-named "City of Stone" is a hillside town in Albania and is the birthplace of Enver Hoxha. On the top of the hill stands the Gjiorkaster Fortress. It was converted into a prison in 1932 under King Zog's rule to house political prisoners.
Great photo ops in Gjirokaster. Loved the stone buildings and the fortress prison and the cobblestone streets were super cool too!
