We left KC, Missouri behind and headed to Illinois. We didn't stop at the Arch, we have been there twice before so we decided to plough through to Tennessee. We got off the highway to buy gas on the Illinois side and ended up on some county road that paralleled the railroad tracks. We could see the Arch and opted to keep going for that magical spot to get a shot. It was weird, but we found this elevated platform, it was a park really and we climbed to the top and got a great view of the Arch. Happy accident!

The second leg of our Thanksgiving road trip was Nashville, TN. We arrived in the late afternoon and wanted to hit the Parthenon at sunset. By the time we got there the light was fading so we snapped a few night shots. This time we didn't leave the tripods in the car. The Parthenon is an exact replica of the one in Athens. I think I like the one in Athens better. After the shoot we headed to the hotel. Oh my! The traffic in Nashville is aggressive and fast! Ok, traffic sucks everywhere but some places are downright scary. We got turned around and could not find the street the hotel was on...we just kept going around the block. Finally we got there. Walking to dinner was the better choice rather than trying to navigate the crazy streets. The desk clerk recommended a BBQ joint not too far. Nashville BBQ - now you're talking!

Early the next morning we headed out to find downtown. There was a pedestrian bridge I wanted to hit that has a great view of the skyline. I could not figure out the navigation to the bridge, we ended up in the Titan's Stadium parking on the other side of the river. A short walk and we were on a bridge - yep, this was it. We are on it.
It was cloudy and the light was terrible. We hit Broadway and my first thought was, this looks totally like Reno. Ugh, not a huge fan of Reno, kind of seedy. Don't get me wrong I like seedy, but I was not impressed by Nashville. The clubs and country music vibe and Printer's Alley where the Blues clubs were was pretty cool though.
