We headed out to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge this Labor Day weekend. This is our new favorite place, it is very peaceful and not overly crowded with people like Barr Lake has become. Today, I shot with the Olympus and the 100-400mm Panasonic/Leica glass. It took a bit to get used to it. I don't shoot with the Olympus as much as I should and this is her first time out on a bird shoot. I have really nailed down shooting birds with the Fuji XT3, but alas, Erich just purchased a Fuji XT4 and, well, I let him use my big girl, the 100-400 mm lens. I struggled a bit with the Olympus, focusing is different and actually not as good as the XT3 but I managed to get a few good shots. I don't notice the lag in focus on landscape shots. We didn't see any Herons this trip, but surprisingly there were a few Pelicans. I practiced bird in flight, it is hard to get a decent composition. I do think the tracking works much better on the Olympus, I haven't gotten the tracking nailed down on the XT3 yet. Birds in flight is not for me.
Still no buffalo at the refuge, I guess they are vacationing in Wyoming.
